The Little Hoyas won their first league match of the young season against Episcopal High School by the score of 193-204 under partly cloudy skies and warm temps at Norbeck Country Club in Rockville.
Nate Cohan had it going through 8 holes this afternoon. He birdied #2, 4, 6, 8 to get to 4-under but then a wayward drive into the trees on the right side of the ninth cost him as he slipped to a triple bogey to finish at one-under.
Meanwhile Denny McCarthy had a less tumultuous round. He bogeyed the first and responded with a birdie on #2 then another at the par three 6th to post his one-under 35.
Wes Strang got off to a rough start with a double bogey on the first then bogeys on 4 and 5 before finishing with four straight pars for a 40. Sam Spikell was likewise four over after the first four holes but managed to right the ship with a birdie on 6 before a closing bogey on 9 for another 40.
Justin Butler in his first ever start for the team recorded 3 double bogeys and one bogey on the last hole for a 7-over 43. Devin Drewyer on his home course shot five over after the first three holes, played the next three in even par and the last three in even bogeys for a 44.
Alternate Greg Bourdon, who had just returned from a two-week exchange program in Spain, showed little signs of any rust as he matched one bogey with one birdie for an even par 36. Tom Horton had a rough second hole as his tee shot found the deep junk on the left hand side of the hole and ballooned up to an 8. He made 4 pars and 4 bogeys the rest of the way for a 44.
